Nu-Calgon 4178-05 – Foam-Brite-Non-acidic, Biodegradable Coil Cleaner (2.5 Gal Jug)
Nu-Calgon Foam-Brite 4178-05 is a powerful non-acidic, alkaline-based coil cleaner and brightener designed for heavy-duty commercial HVACR maintenance. Its high-foaming formulation lifts grease, oxidation, and stubborn soil from air-cooled condenser coils, permanent filters, and finned heating & cooling coils, while being safer to handle than acid-based cleaners.
Key Features & Benefits
| Non-acidic, alkaline formula | Safer on metal surfaces, reduced risk compared to HF acid cleaners; less corrosive when used correctly. |
| Biodegradable ingredients with chelants & surfactants | Environmentally friendlier; effectively penetrates and removes greasy soils and oxidation without harsh residues. |
| High foam action | Foaming lifts soils out of coil fins for more thorough cleaning; clings to vertical and horizontal surfaces longer allowing deep soil removal. |
| Brightening effect | Leaves condenser coil fins clean and bright looking—improving heat transfer efficiency. |
| Large-volume (2.5 gallon) container | Ideal for contractors and service companies; supports multiple jobs with one jug. |

Directions for Use & Safety
- Safety First: Always wear protective gear—goggles, gloves, face protection, and protective clothing. Avoid breathing mist or vapors.
- Dilution: Mix 1 part Foam-Brite with 3 to 4 parts water. For tougher soils, a slightly stronger dilution may be used, but never use undiluted.
- Application: Use a durable low-pressure plastic sprayer. Apply solution evenly to dirty condenser coils. Allow 5-10 minutes contact time.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse with water to remove all cleaner. Residue can reduce performance or damage surfaces.
- Aftercare: Once clean and dry, optionally apply a coil protectant to extend coil life and improve resistance to corrosion and soil.
